Installation Issues

  • Issue: A file being copied is not newer than the file currently on your system. It is recommended that you keep your existing file.  Do you want to keep this file?

    Resolution: Click 'Yes' to keep your existing file.  

    Note: If you are upgrading to Jewelry Insight version 3, when asked to keep filename jhelptopics.chm, chose 'No' for that file only.

  • Issue: System files are out of date...system files are out of date. Would you like setup to update the files? OR
    Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now. You will need to restart Windows before you can run setup again. Click cancel to exit setup without updating system files.

    Resolution: Click 'Yes' or 'OK' and 'Yes' to reboot again.

    Additional issue: The installation keeps prompting you to update the system files and reboot.  Microsoft has confirmed that this is a Microsoft issue.  The application requires VB6 Runtime files.  PCs that have a lower version of the VB6 runtime files will prompt you to install the updated files, however, a Microsoft bug prevents the update from completing.

    Resolution:  See the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 191096 for instructions on how to update the TEMP directory setting.

Issues  Running the Application

  • Issue: Runtime errors

    Runtime Error 53. File Not Found

    or

    Unrecognized database format <filename>.
        (error 3343)
            Can't open database.  It may not be a database
        that my application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. (error 3049)
            The specified file name is not a Microsoft Jet
        database.

      To resolve this error, install the Access runtime:

      To resolve this error, install the MS Access runtime.  Jewelry Insight uses a Microsoft Access database. The MS Access runtime version is included as part of the installation, however, it appears that the runtime may not be installed during the normal installation process if your PC has a previous version of Access installed. Refer to the Installation Guide Appendix for steps to install the MS Access runtime.
